What’s the Difference Between Resource Consent and Building Consent?
Resource Consent
Resource consent is required when your project affects the environment or goes outside what's permitted in your local district plan. This could relate to things like site coverage, setbacks, height, or proximity to boundaries.
Building consent
Building consent is required for most construction work. It ensures your project meets the New Zealand Building Code and is safe, durable, and compliant.
Some projects need one. Some need both. We’ll assess your design early on and let you know exactly what’s needed - no surprises.

We prepare and lodge all consent documentation on your behalf, and liaise with council officers to answer questions, provide additional details, and keep things moving. This means fewer hold-ups, less back-and-forth, and a faster path to approval.
